Do I need a GP referral?
No, you are able to self refer. We also accept referrals directly from other health professionals you have been involved with. If you wish to access our services using a health insurance policy you may be required to contact your GP.
What happens in the first appointment?
You will be welcomed by our reception team and may be required to fill in our registration forms if you have been able to access them online. Your health professional will then take you through to a clinic room where you will begin your appointment. This usually starts with time to discuss your health problem and answer specific questions relating to this. From here you will be offered a management pathway, treatment where appropriate and an ongoing plan. You are welcome to ask questions at any point.
What should I wear to my appointment?
The health professional will most likely wish to examine the area of your body being assessed. Please bring shorts if necessary, however, we have shorts available if needed. Comfortable clothing may be useful if you are likely to be accessing our rehabilitation gym.
Is there parking?
We have no allocated parking but there is paid parking in The Enterprise Centre car park or Eastbourne Railway Station car park. There is free parking opportunities in the roads surrounding the clinic but availability is limited during office hours.
There is more information about travel and parking options on our contact page.
What happens if I need scans?
If you are advised to have any imaging or scans you will advised on how these can be organised.
Will I get exercises to take home?
If your practitioner deems you require rehabilitation exercises you will be issued with a program to work on at home.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on your clinical presentation and your response to treatment.
Do you accept private medical insurance?
Yes. We accept Bupa, AXA, WPA, Aviva and The Exeter and can invoice these companies directly on your behalf. For other insurance companies, we will ask you to pay us directly and your insurer may accept your invoices and refund you part or all of you fee. Please check with your insurance company before booking an appointment.
What is you cancellation policy?
In order to respect our practitioner’s time and other patients, we operate a 24hr cancellation policy. If you need to change your appointment, please contact reception. Cancellations after this time frame or failure to attend will be charged the full self-pay consultation rate.
When the clinic is closed an answering machine is available to leave messages and we will get back to you asap regarding your enquiry, booking or cancellation.
Reminder text messages and / or emails are sent as a courtesy, however, it is your responsibility to ensure that you keep a record of all your future appointments.
Do I need to be sporty to be seen at Sportswise?
No, not at all! We see all sorts of people with all sorts of pain or injury. Sometimes there is no apparent cause or sometimes pain is brought on by many different activities (gardening, work, grandchildren, knitting).
What age do you see patients from?
We can see patients from aged 8.
If using an insurance policy how do I pay my excess?
Most health insurance policies have an excess. The excess is usually collected by us and your insurer will notify you when we need this payment. You are welcome to pay your excess in advance and we will keep the funds on account and allocate them as the invoices are processed.
