Conditions we commonly manage

Our physiotherapists are experienced in treating a wide range of injuries and conditions, including:
Back and neck Pain
Physiotherapy plays an important role in the management of spinal pain and dysfunction. It focuses on reducing pain, restoring movement, strengthening muscles and preventing the problem from recurring. Physiotherapists use a combination of assessment, hands-on treatment, exercises and education to help you recover safely and effectively. Conditions such as cervical spondylosis, disc prolapse and nerve impingement, and postural pain can all be improved with physiotherapy input.
Muscle, tendon and ligament injuries
Physiotherapy plays an important role in the treatment and recovery of muscle, tendon and ligament injuries. It helps reduce pain and swelling, restore movement, strengthen the injured area and prevent future injuries. Conditions such as rotator cuff injury, Achilles tendinopathy, lateral hip pain, plantar fasciopathy and tennis elbow are just some of the conditions we can help to manage and treat.
Ostoearthritis and joint pain
Osteoarthritis is a common cause of joint pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility, especially in the knees, hips, hands and spine. Physiotherapy is one of the most effective non-surgical ways to manage symptoms by using techniques to decrease pain and increase joint mobility along with strengthening the muscles. Physiotherapists are also able to guide patients with the management of osteoporosis by the progressive loading and strengthening of bones, joints and muscles.
Pre and post-operative surgery
Surgery can be planned (elective) or can be as a result of trauma. Physiotherapy is vital to help manage pain, improve range of affected joints and restore muscle strength and control. Our aim is to return patients to their full function after their surgery and back to doing what they love. The most common elective surgeries are total hip and knee replacements, subacromial decompression and rotator cuff repair, spinal decompression and meniscal repair and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Traumatic fractures following falls or accidents can also require physiotherapy input to optimise recovery. In the case of planned surgery pre-operative physiotherapy can help to guide recovery expectations and prime muscle function in order to maximise the outcome of surgery.
Sports injuries and performance issues
Sports injuries can arise from sports, activity and hobbies. They usually are associated with over training, increased load or acute injury whilst participating. Physiotherapy will ensure optimised tissue recovery, rehabilitation and guided return to sport and activity. You may also notice you are unable to achieve certain sporting or activity goals and physiotherapy can be a great starting point to delve into assessment of body mechanics and how this may be impacting on performance.
Work-related injuries (RSI) and ergonomics
Many jobs can lead to injury due to the repetitive nature of a movement or position. As physiotherapists we aim to improve your symptoms but also to educate and facilitate changes in posture or working positions in order to prevent reoccurrence. This can be looking at the ergonomics of work station set up or adaptations to a job role and advising on changes and ways to help your body meet the demand.
