Pilates Classes

We have weekly classes that take place in The Jubilee Hall at St John's Church in Meads as well as in our studio here at The Printworks.

The classes are booked in blocks alongside the school half terms. We are also able to offer 1:1 or 2:1 Pilates sessions.

Pilates is suitable for anyone at any age and involves the principles of breathwork, flexibility, strength and mindfulness.

If you are new to Pilates you need to complete a 1:1 session with one of our Pilates physiotherapists to assess your needs and teach you the basic principles.

With years of combined experience and a reputation for results-driven care, we’re proud to be recognised as one of Sussex’s leading and most trusted healthcare providers.

Benefits of Pilates

Some of the wonderful benefits from movement using the Pilates method can include:
Flexibility
Pilates promotes balanced flexibility by lengthening muscles while maintaining strength and control. Through slow, precise movements and mindful stretching, the body develops greater range of motion without strain, supporting fluid and efficient movement.
Balance
Balance in Pilates is developed through controlled exercises that challenge stability. By engaging the core and focusing on alignment, you can improve both your balance and stability.
Coordination and Body Awareness
Pilates emphasises the connection between mind and body, encouraging precise, intentional movement. Coordinating breath with movement enhances neuromuscular control and increases body awareness, allowing for improved movement efficiency and injury prevention.
Core Mobility and Strength
At the heart of Pilates is core engagement, focusing on the deep abdominal, pelvic floor and spinal muscles. Exercises are designed to build strength while maintaining mobility in the spine, creating a stable yet flexible centre of movement.
Posture
Pilates supports postural improvement by strengthening postural muscles and encouraging optimal alignment. Awareness of spinal positioning and muscular balance helps reduce tension, improve alignment and promote ease in everyday activities.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is integral to Pilates practice, with attention placed on breath, movement quality and internal awareness. This focused approach enhances concentration, reduces stress and fosters a deeper connection between physical and mental well-being.
