Scar Therapy

At Sportswise we offer a specialist scar therapy service to promote recovery and treatment of scars following all types of surgery or injury.

Scars result when the body repairs skin wounds caused by surgery, accident or disease. They are the result of the healing process. The longer it takes a wound to heal and the more damaged the skin, the greater the chance of a noticeable scar.

Improving the tightness and appearance of scars

Start your recovery

Even though scars will never totally disappear, scar therapy is a great way to relieve the tight, pulling, painful or itching sensation of your scars.

Additionally, scar therapy can also reduce the appearance of your scar. The extent to which an scar will change will depend on scar type, skin type, the positioning of the scar, genetics and ergonomic factors.

Scar therapy is one method of softening and flattening scars. It serves several important functions;

  • Promoting collagen remodelling by applying pressure to scars
  • Helping decrease itching
  • Providing moisture and flexibility to the scar
  • Reduces the sensation of tightness

With years of combined experience and a reputation for results-driven care, we’re proud to be recognised as one of Sussex’s leading and most trusted healthcare providers.
